Welcome to the course “Smart News, Safe AI: Digital Ethics and Accountability for Future Journalists”, and welcome to join fellow learners in this learning journey.
This course explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in content and news production in an ethical, safe, and responsible manner. It focuses on identifying key risks such as misinformation, algorithmic bias, and data privacy issues within digital journalism practices.
After completing this course, you are expected to be able to identify the limitations and risks of AI, detect bias and misinformation, apply ethical principles and data protection practices, and produce AI-assisted content or news that is accurate, ethical, and accountable.
This course carries 0 credits (non-degree course) and is designed for non-degree learners. The estimated learning time for this MOOCs is approximately 6 hours. This English-language course is delivered in a self-paced format.
The learning method is asynchronous, utilizing interactive video lectures, a Learning Management System (LMS), online quizzes, and digital reading materials.
Learning activities include watching interactive videos, completing quizzes, conducting content analysis and rewriting exercises, engaging with case studies, developing do’s and don’ts guidelines for AI use, and completing a final project in the form of an AI-assisted news script.
