IDENTITY & POPULAR CULTURE (MOOC000302) Course Description: Popular Culture is something that we consume in our everyday lives. Why and how should we problematize it particularly in relation to identity construction? By participating in this MOOC, you will be exploring issues and case studies related to identity in popular culture texts and practices. Some texts to be discussed in this MOOC are advertisements, comics, television series, films, videos on YouTube or social media posts. The main issues to be discussed are race, ethnicity, religion, gender and social class particularly on how one's identity is positioned or being positioned.
